Back to breakfast today at 6:45 to get an earlier start to the morning. Despite this, the dining room was already buzzing with people. It is obvious the hotel has a lot of guests.
We headed out early today – 8 a.m. to take a 2 hour bus ride west of London to Stonehenge. Grammy Gloria ensured she got a picture of every bus driver we have had since the journey began in Copenhagen.
Stonehenge consists of an outer ring of vertical sarsen standing stones, each around 13 feet (4.0 m) high, seven feet (2.1 m) wide, and weighing around 25 tons, topped by connecting horizontal lintel stones. One of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is regarded as a British cultural icon.
After the short stop at Stonehenge, we journeyed towards the city of Bath to see a tour of the Roman Baths and to spend an hour in the city sightseeing, shopping and having lunch. Subway caught my eye and due to my stomach feeling a little queasy from all of the twists and turned climbing the hills of England, this was just what I needed. I also caught a few seconds of a saxophonist playing in the square.
We went to dinner at the Italian restaurant Bella Italia in the Strand area. We caught the metro and on the way to the restaurant, there were some singers on the side of the street singing ‘Tell Me More’ from Grease! This was a nice surprise. A dinner we had bruschetta for an appetizer (bread with cherry tomatoes and onions with balsamic vinegar, Spaghetti Bolognaise for the entrée and tiramisu for dessert. All were delicious.
Day 13 in England is done! I can’t believe it is almost over.
Tomorrow we have our last day of activities which include visiting the large ‘ferris wheel’ called the London Eye as well as seeing the show ‘South Pacific’ in the evening.

July 17, 2022 (Tivoli Gardens) LET’S CLEAR THIS UP ONCE AND FOR ALL… You may think, like some members of the group, that this phrase that you see all around Copenhagen called “HYGGE” is possibly my last name pronounced “HIGGY” Sadly, I cannot claim any rights to Copenhagen (although I am looking into the requirements…
July 29, 2022 (Finally Home) No one could see how big the smiles were on all of our faces when we finally landed in Nassau. Having a 2-week European Vacation was fantastic. But all good things must come to and end and there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME. As we deplaned and went through immigration,…
July 20, 2022 (Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS) Second Day in Amsterdam Starts With Breakfast… We have now become accustomed to eating a buffet breakfast each morning that is made up of cheese, meats, pastries, breads, sausages, eggs, cereals, juices and coffee. And Amsterdam did not disappoint. Just one floor up from the lobby, where we ate dinner…
July 28, 2022 (London to JFK) Thankfully, we did not need to check out of the hotel until 11:15 today and so that was a good chance to ensure everything was packed, and I had a little time to walk down Kensington for last minute buys. I went looking for Galaxy chocolate but alas, I…
